OUR STORY
FAMILY INSPIRATION
I’m one of eleven children. My parents, Sayed and Frances Zaidan, arrived in Australia from northern Lebanon in 1960 with very little, but with strong values around food, family, and hard work. Cooking wasn’t optional. It was part of daily life.
Our recipes come from the villages of Zgharta and Kfarsghab, based on simple, honest home cooking using fresh ingredients. Food was never rushed. It was how culture was passed down.
After more than 25 years in hospitality, I saw these traditions slowly fading. Sambousek was created to keep them alive.
We bake our own bread and kaak on-site and blend our own marinades and spices using fresh, whole ingredients. No shortcuts. Just the food I grew up with, made the right way.
